TRANSITION RIDE CAMP

last sat sun, mon, and tue me, rog g, and miko got to ride with the crew from transition bikes out in bellingham Wa. We had a ball and learned some stuff about the company first hand. We sell their bikes at Wheel Wright and it is a very successful program. I rode the same bike both days and really enjoyed the n.w. vibe and temps. Read the full story!

TDF

Every summer when the Tour winds down and hits the Champs I get bit bummed out. Or shall i say a touch of melancholia. Heres the thing, i barely even like road cycling or time trials or
France for that matter. I dont like the advertising, the big bike companies and big sponsors (leaky gas) nor the hype about the comeback guy from texas. What i will miss is the excitement the bike shop customers had every day when they asked if i saw 'todays stage'. The talk about who is looking good and who is thrown out cause of some banned substance ( Boonen) The two 60 year old businessmen who stopped in after their lunch next door and were raving about the
coverage this year. I hate hearing about crashes yet i was held captive listening to Mikos description of Jens Voigh high speed contact with the ground. It 30 days of bike nerd bliss smack in the middle of what always seems a busy boring summer for me here in the philly metro. I will miss it and i want to shout out to my pal Gus because the only stage i saw was in Hd on his big flat screen last night because i dont have a tv or cable at home.
Colorful lycra bike shorts and yellow jerseys..... leave em in France please.

resurrection

I have read or heard before that bike mechanics often have crappy
running personal bikes. Why you ask? Prob because they (I) are sick of looking at another bike when they (I) come home from a long day of working on bike repairs. They (I) also become numb to a poorly running bike , can handle the creeks and mis- shifts or poor braking performance that would drive a regular guy over the edge. So after four or five months of messing with a d.s. frame that a colleague broke for me i finally got around to getting it warrantied from the manufacturer. I have to put some more parts on it and a little gizmo that i need for it to work didnt come in the box but things are looking up! Weird, but it looks like some Asian man in the factory was chewing on the rear brake mounting bosses. Good bye old friend...Hello new puppy

p.s. i just looked in the trash can where i threw out the old frame yesterday, and someone already cherry picked it. The old sled lives on!!!!!!

new record

Wow two posts in one day.
I have alot of nerve to think that someone thinks this blog is relevant and reads it.
Anyhow ive been tagged in this stupid game thing- my wife did the tagging so ill
humor her. So it goes like this 5 things that 'ALWAYS' are styling and 5 that are 'NEVER'
a good idea. Ill rename it love and hate beings that's what it comes down to.

Always and forever
1- a wallet that has conformed to the curve of a butt pant pocket
2- ballcap with any truck co. logo peterbuilt, diamond rio, Mack, Case, Kennworth good and sweat stained
3- any garment Fred Perry or Merc London
4- authentic knit rasta hat full of real dreadlocks
5- suede shoes
Not so fab
1- tight pants punk rock style hate em! hate em! hate em!
2- purses made of leather or whatever those dumb things that have little logos like coach
3- phone pods people wear in their ears that flash
4- the colorful sneaker renaissance
5- choosing wine over beer on a stinking hot day when i get done work, a glass of wine is not what im seeking mate.

tagged i guess will be Jesse Keenan

yeah i do need a new bike

As i am listening to the opening tracks of 'no line on the horizon'
im thinking - what is stopping me from really getting a new bike?
Actually nothing nothing at all except for dropping a few taymons.
I may blue this double out or maybe ill just add a bunch of green ,
green goes well in the woods i believe.
I am intoxicated by the idea of riding a string of trail -over hill and dale.
Watch my progress.

doubles down at V.G.

I set a goal for myself.
By summers end to be able to
comfortably session this set of
doubles down at valley green.
They look so fun, but i haven't
been riding at this level for a while.
Maybe i just need a better bike?

It would be nice to have a extra hand when working on aero spokes.
This hub has pretty little white ceramic balls in it.
Green is a lovely color for a front door or a shamrock.
It gives me peace that spring is around the corner,
and i hope to plant more little green things this year.
